Meet the Artist: Colleen Hughson
Born in Warrnambool, Victoria, Colleen Hughson is a passionate and innovative filmmaker. Her award winning documentaries have been screened at film festivals both nationally and internationally and she has had her work broadcast on national and international television.
She is experienced and skilled in all areas of video production: directing, producing, script-writing, filming and editing. Her documentaries include; All The Ladies, a 1/2 hour documentary on women in Hip Hop, Chicks with Decks Skateboard Documentary and A.K.A.Girl Skater, covering the first all-girl/women skateboarding tour in Australia.
Colleen’s other passion, when not working on film projects, is film-making workshops and education. She has years of experience in developing and facilitating film education in both school and community settings.
Colleen recently resumed freelance film-making after 2 1/2 years spent working as an ABC Open Producer in South West Victoria. While working at the ABC, she engaged her community in digital storytelling and coordinated a whole range of creative digital projects. You can read her ABC Open blog here. In 2012, she received the Yooralla Online Media Award for producing Harvey Shares the Stoke.
